Sword of the Great Seal of Robert The Bruce. Beset on all sides, betrayed, deserted, Robert the Bruce continued to strive for the greatest prize of all, the Crown of Scotland. One of the more romantic figures in history, his perseverance, courage and determination are all legendary, and equaled only by his fighting ability. He inflicted one of the worst defeats ever suffered by an English army at Bannockburn. He won the crown, and became one of Scotland's greatest kings and heroes. On the Great Seal of Robert The Bruce there is a knight, holding a shield with the Rampant Lion of Scotland. In his hand he holds a sword with distinctive curved cross guard and a blade that looks quite effective. We feel our version of the sword is true both to the Seal and to the reality of a sword that the mighty Bruce would have carried. This is a superb fighting weapon. Blade has a smooth, gentle taper to a point, and the fuller tapers as well. The combination produces a fast, lightweight sword capable of delivering a devastating cut, with enough of a point to stab effectively. Blade is made of high carbon steel, tempered to a tough spring. Slightly raised disc pommel, and a cross guard whose ends taper to a point, as on the seal.
